چکیده

Abstract Smartamine ML (Adisseo), a bioavailable (80%) source of lysine and methionine was used to evaluate effects increasing supply on performance beef cattle. Crossbred steers (n=120, initial BW 261 kg) were individually fed diet 15% modified distillers grains plus solubles (MDGS), 68% blend high moisture dried rolled corn, 12% corn silage, 5% supplement with top-dressed daily. Steers assigned 8 inclusions lysine, 0 7 g/d in 1 g increments, 15 per treatment. Data analyzed MIXED procedure SAS as generalized randomized design animal experimental unit treatment fixed effect. Orthogonal contrasts evaluated linear, quadratic, cubic responses. Contrast statements compared the control 1, 2, 3 treatments. Feeding amounts linearly decreased DMI (P = 0.04), final live ADG 0.02) no effect G:F ≥ 0.27). Numerical differences 0.26) led trend 0.06) for improved (0.188 0.176, respectively). During Optaflexx feeding period (d 163-195), 0.01) increased 0.13) or 0.12), 0.08) (0.163 0.131, Hot carcass weight tended 0.07) decrease diet, other measures including longissimus muscle area, 12th rib fat, marbling score 0.18). In finishing cattle diets MDGS, more than supplemental did not improve performance.

Ruminal ciliated protozoa in cattle fed finishing diets with or without supplemental fat.

Ruminal samples were collected at slaughter from 364 unfasted steers fed different finishing diets to obtain information on numbers and species distribution of ciliated protozoa in feedlot cattle. Total numbers of protozoa averaged 1.59 X 10(5)/g of ruminal contents. A total of 47 steers (12.9%) were defaunated, but 4.1% of the steers possessed numbers of protozoa greater than 10(6)/g. Entodini...

Digestibility of potato processing residue in beef cattle finishing diets.

Two digestion experiments were conducted to determine the effect of various levels of potato processing residue in feedlot diets on digestion of dry matter, gross energy, crude protein and starch. In Exp. 1, 10 Hereford steers (average weight 360 kg) were randomly allotted to one of five diets in which (1) 0, (2) 15, (3) 30, (4) 45 or (5) 60% of diet dry matter was provided by potato processing...

Supplemental betaine and peroxide-treated feather meal for finishing cattle.

These studies evaluated the effects of betaine, provided either as feed-grade betaine or as concentrated separator by-product (CSB; desugared beet molasses), on performance and carcass characteristics of finishing cattle. In Exp. 1, 175 steers (410 kg initial BW) were fed a finishing diet based on steam-flaked and dry-rolled corn, and treatments included 10.5 and 21 g/d feed-grade betaine and 2...

To evaluatethe effects of supplementing diets of growing Japanese quails (n=450; 7 days old) with chromium (Cr) yeast and / or mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on productive performance, carcass traits and the immune system are reported. Diets were a basal diet (control) or the basal diet supplemented with 600 mg Cr-yeast/kg (Cr 1), 1200 mg Cr-yeast/kg (Cr 2), 1.0 g MOS/kg, Cr 1 + MOS or Cr 2 + MO...
